Who am I?

A man from the USA trying to discover the world one place at a time, while sharing the experiences through my lens. I like traveling to places that are usually not first on most people’s itinerary and showing everyone that these places are worth the journey. I want to experience all the countries I visit as a member of the society but at the same time learn about the culture, food and beautiful people. Growth is not achievable without leaving your comfort zone, so just do it!

  1. hi Myers the older generation maybe might not so familiar with utube and some of them are sceptical & intimidated with recording.. thus the cold respond that u received from the watch shop.. dont take it to the heart, we as local also somtimes treated the same when trying to take pic or video 😅 enjoy ur stay.. keep sharing.. take care

  2. Hello,

I went to Malaysia in October 2023. The country is so beautiful and a lot better than the UK.

As soon as I arrived at KL Airport from Heathrow via Bangkok checking in immigration department I faced discrimination right in my face with the imi officers were making jokes at looking me.. But they let me.

After a week I decided to visit Singapore for one day on the JB border entering Singapore they never asked me nothing except getting my name wrong on Singapore ICA form and I decided to come back the very next day into Malaysia and that's very things turned nasty for me.. They took my passport away without any explanation and they held from one hour without reason..

I'm a UK national with a UK passport but my fault is that I was born in Pakistan which I absolutely had no control over and I spent and lived most of my life in the UK.

I face the same problem in Vietnam with imi department, the lady keep looking at me and passport nonstop, running her fingers through and holding my passport against the light etc..

Both of those two interactions I found them extremely uncomfortable and humiliating given how I was treated and the questions they asked me despite having meet all the requirements for entering Malaysia and Vietnam.

Has anyone else face discrimination in Malaysia and Vietnam if you're a western countries citizen but you were born in Middle East and South Asian countries.

    Thank you in advance.

  3. I'm starting to believe the Chinese in Sarawak are becoming jaded by all the discriminations imposed on them.
That might explain why those that remains don't come across as "friendly".
Those that are more "educated" don't return to Malaysia.
These are the ones more exposed to Western cultures.

  4. 7:10 DBstory is one of Malaysia's influencers. That painting is that of Niah Cave. It's about an hour's drive from Miri.
9:28 No, it's NOT because of Chinese influence. Sarawak is a non-Muslim majority State and Dayak ethnics are the majority. We're mostly non-Muslims therefore we eat pork. That is why you see less halal shops as compare to the peninsula. Chinese are concentrated in towns and cities, that is why you see more of them there.
10:29 To them you're invading their privacy. So, please ask if a shop owner is okay with you taking videos of their businesses/shops/merchandise because not everyone is okay with it.
Ah. You tried Coffee Code! What I know about them is that they try to source their beans from locals. Not all of their beans, I believe.

  5. I'm Malaysian..i do notice you aren't being received warmly.

I must admit, you look Pakistani/ Bangladeshi/Indian. Malaysians aren't too keen with this race to be honest. In recent dacade, we've been having a massive influx of them. They break every rule and law there are in our country..and never honor agreement. I'm sorry.

  6. Somehow, im kinda sensing some disconnect in the chat up attempts. Maybe (highly probable) because you look Indian ethically, and the Chinese locals automatically assume you are an Indian ethnic from Peninsular side (KL) of Malaysia. Thus, when you asked the food vendors about chicken or pork stuff, there was some ambiguos moments/hessitant answers – since a local would have known these and even avoid the foodcourt (if they know the primary food specialities available at the foodcourt).
Pretty sure things would have been different if they know you're a traveller from America.

  7. 1:05 this is a Chinese temple we called “tuah pek gong”. The temple will close 6pm every day.

Since the oil boom of Miri in the early 1900s, the town population increased rapidly before an unknown epidemic began to struck the town which resulting to the deaths of many of the town population.[1][3] The local Chinese residents believed the epidemic is caused by evil spirits roaming around the area with a Chinese man named Chan Chak began to calling a monk to appease the spirits with spirit-pacifying ritual being carried out near the Miri River with an altar being placed there.[3] With the epidemic began to subsided following the ritual, the local Chinese residents constructed a temple near the river to revere Tua Pek Kong as a gratitude to the latter in 1913.[1] The temple stays until this day where it survived the Japanese bombings on the town during World War II. It was renovated in 1977.[3] In 2017, a new paifang has been constructed for the temple.[4]

  8. Thankyou for sharing another amazing video of miri.
25th dec,2023 today people are celebrating christmas in the city, so town area not so many pples around, because some pples going back to their village, or going out station to other places visiting.
Some pple don’t respond when you talk to them because they don’t understand what you said, it is not because they are not friendly.
The place you had been visited was miri town centre, there are many other places you not yet visit, like niah cave national park, world heritage.
