The hairspring bit was nervewrecking but you made it look easy! Thank you for the watch. It will be cherished.
I've learned so much from this channel. I rebuilt my first movement a Seiko 6309 following the guide on here and slowly invested in some tools over time. Obsessed now with finding watches in charity shops and cleaning them/getting them running again. Great inspiration; love watching these with a brew of an evening.
ÓTIMO SERVIÇO 👍👍 🇧🇷
As soon as I saw this I was like is that an ETA1080?? Zodiac used them on their manual wind glorious models. I have an old Invicta with one in it as well. They look very similar to the raketa 2609s of the 1960s.
Mike, I enjoyed this project. Did you get the project completed? The Hairspring issue was way above my paygrade. Nice looking watch. Just beautiful.
Impressive work. Sorry about the seconds hand pivot issue. Thanks for the video.
Hi Mike, great video, if you watch your video at 6:42 to 6:48 you can see you second wheel still has the pivot then when you remove the canon pinion it is missing, check it out. Thanks for the info on Gleave and Co. I use Cousins alot but it is getting to expensive to ship to the US, thanks again Glen
Lovely stuff Mike!
Great video Mike if I say so myself 😂😂
Great job, just a tip, triangler point on the peg wood to clean jewels is the watchmaker preferred method 😉
I've only heard very positive things about Ivan. It's so great to hear of a business man that can be successful and still be a gentleman. I'm glad you go to meet him in person.
It’s always those darn escape wheels that drive us mad. 😅
Still another nice job, Mike. Bad luck on the pivot snapping. I had the same issue with a Seiko 6139 recently. There was just enough pivot there to make it look ok, but when I broke down and disassembled the watch again to compare it to another it was clearly shorter.
Great job. You are doing just fine. That balance wheel probably needs a bit of poise to help in vertical positions. You can easily handle that. Just take your time and work slowly as you learn. A good poise and clean balance pivots will make a difference in its accuracy. That second hand pivot issue is not uncommon so, don't sweat it. Probably already had a fracture…. Easy fix some day, maybe on next service. 😊
Hi Mike! I'm glad Ivan liked it. It is really satisfying to bring a non-runner back and you did a great job. You obviously can't fix those last couple of issues as it is with Ivan, and I think you had the right idea. Do you think that the balance might have been slightly out of poise? So DU and DD are fine, but pendant positions show the rate change because of this? In any case, great work. Love watching these videos and hearing your modest commentary, despite the skills that you have acquired.
Mentor. Great video and comments. Followed your every move, breath holding and sighs in unison. I'm 6 years behind you, but enjoying every moment.
I don't mind the re-lumming of old watches but you gotta tint it to match the dial. Whoever did the re-lumming prior to you getting it did a terrible job, they just stand out too much, would've been easy to just toss them in some black tea or coffee for a bit to tone it down. 👍👍
Love the NekkidWatchmaker he's awesome!
Heartbreaking, all the work you did. I'm sure you will get it sorted at a later time. The hairspring work was treacherous. One day i may tackle one with the same confidence you've shown. Great video as always Mike. I'm sure Ivan was very pleased. Thank you for sharing the trials and tribulations of watchmaking.
That's what i love about your channel, Mike you show it as it is no camera tricks or cutting out the disappointments that I'm sure happen to all of us, in this hobby.
I'm positive Ivan will love the watch, because of the care and hard work you put into restoring it. Great work Sir.
Really enjoyed this video, well done!!
Hairspring surgery – ugh, I hate them too!!
Wouldn’t it be great if they made a watch without a hairspring at all? Ahh….accutron to the rescue 😂😂
Great work there, especially the daunting hairspring stuff. Shame about the seconds pivot, but you don't know what people have done with it over the decades, just the slightest normal touch might have been the final thing that snapped it. You rescued a nice watch.
I think it's a marvelous watch. Very attractive dial, quality movement and a nice story, thanks to you!
Great job Mike. I'm sure Ivan will love it because it's restored by you. To me, it means more than a new watch off the shelf.
A great video again! And what a beautiful watch! Thanks to share your work, I loved every minutes of it.
Everything about this watch reminds me of a 1942 Rolex "Oyster Raleigh" I own. That crown gear looks like it was carved out of a dime! Very sturdy movements, meant to be worn in battle.
Great vid Mike, I'm liking the way you described other aspects of watchmaking in this video. 👍👍
