In this video, I’ll demonstrate and discuss the steps I took to repair and resurface the spoilboard on my Avid 4848 Pro CNC Router.

First I’ll go over the method I used to fix various screw and hail holes that come from fastening materials to the spoilboard. I’ll explain how I drilled out, then plugged those holes.

I’ll demonstrate how I used automotive body filler to fill in cuts, dents, and gouges in the top of the spoilboard. Finally, I’ll wrap up by showing you how I surfaced the spoilboard to get a nice flat surface.

As usual, if you have any comments or questions about anything I covered in this video, please join me for the Live Q&A, or put ‘em in the comment section below.

On Sunday, March 5th, I’ll be hosting a LIVE Q&A session, where you can ask your questions pertaining to anything I’ve covered in this video. That Q&A starts at 3 pm Eastern time, Noon Pacific time. Hope to see you there!

  1. You're not the first a certainly won't be the last to use automotive body filler for an other than it's intended purpose. It's a great product with a 101 uses, I've used it for leveling sub-flooring.👍👍

  2. Looks good Mark. I was thinking of doing this to mine, but didn't know if I was being vain for making it pretty. My spoilboard had a rough beginning and deserves a bit of love. Thanks for sharing as always.

  3. I had thought about doing this as well but my Bondo was well aged and went bad. I use Durham's Rock Hard water putty for repairs to dings on painted trim and had given some thought to using this for spoilboard repairs but I haven't found the round tuit yet. 😁😁Steve
