A sudden hailstorm in Zurich, Switzerland left a trail of destruction on afternoon. The storm lasted for about 20 minutes and was accompanied by strong winds and heavy rainfall. Residents were caught off guard as the hailstones, some as large as golf balls, pounded the city, shattering windows, damaging cars, and flooding streets.

Social media was flooded with images and videos of the storm’s aftermath, with debris and broken glass scattered across the city. Several people were injured by the hailstones and were taken to the hospital for treatment. The local fire department received numerous calls to rescue people trapped in their cars due to flooding.

The Swiss Meteorological Service had issued a warning about the possibility of a hailstorm, but the severity of the storm caught many off guard. The storm caused widespread disruption, with public transport services being severely affected.
The authorities have urged residents to remain indoors and avoid travelling unless it is absolutely necessary.

They have also advised people to stay away from flooded areas and to take precautions to avoid any potential hazards. The cleanup efforts are underway, but it is expected to take some time before the city returns to normalcy.

This is not the first time that Zurich has been hit by a severe hailstorm. In 2017, a similar storm caused extensive damage to property and vehicles. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of being prepared for such weather events, and the need to take appropriate precautions to minimize damage and ensure the safety of all residents.
