The streets of Buenos Aires went berserk when Argentina won their third World Cup final at Qatar 2022 against France. Up to 5 million people came out to celebrate, showing that football in Argentina is like a religion. So what does this tell us about football’s power and fanaticism? Kick-Off reporter Sebastian Saam traveled to Buenos Aires to find out.

I am from the Philippines. My take is the effect of unity and national pride. Though we don’t have a football team. But the same level of pride, joy, unity and recognition when Manny Pacquiao takes to the boxing ring. Everything stops literally. Everyone is at home to watch the boxing match. Now imagine if we had a football team like Argentina. Hell, we’d all go crazy and party for a month. We also value resilience and dedication.
And clearly for us unity is important, we are people that love community, we like each other, we love each other. That doesn't happen everywhere. Te amo Argentina.
El argentino es unico
Champion 💪 of the inflation also
It is not football is fútbol or soccer. Fútbol is total different than football
I was born and left Argentina at age 8. My only connection with that country is pretty much the national team, that's how strong 'fulbo" is….
There are several factors that made this cup special for us. First, Messi could at last lift the World Cup. And second, France.
I'm pretty sure you're in a Gaspi video lol! We're you interviewed by a guy in a tux?
SOMOS CAMPEONES DEL MU[NDO PAPAAAAAAAAAAA ⭐⭐⭐
Kinda embarassing to watch grown adults cry over a futbol match, just deplorable!
Great video !
Since 2010 I've been cheering for African Teams in the World Cup. Starting with my Fatherland of Cameroon because I believed that a win in the World Cup is a Win for the Continent. That Morocco run had me in Tears when Hakimi Scored that winning Penalty against Spain. Seeing Argentina win the World Cup was amazing. Messi & Di Maria truly went their hardest to carry the Torch. My local Club in Atlanta United had a Player in Thiago Almada won the World Cup on that Team.
I really enjoyed the video and it was well done. Insights from the futbol reporter and people from the streets was a nice touch. Thank you
Argentina feels passionately about everything they love and hate, not just football
from india… Argentina fan for life
One element would have made your report more beautiful – if you added the MADNESS of Bangladeshis 🇧🇩 for Football. 2 countries separated by 17,000 kms, Argentina made a mark bigger than the 1st world countries, only through FOOTBALL.
10:37 It was 9:50 a.m. Pacific Time. Poetic Justice. Gonzalo Montiel scored the clinching penalty kick. At 115:55 the score was Argentina 3- France 2. Mbappe kicks and the ball bounces on Montiel's right elbow. "It's a hundred percent penalty," we heard in disbelief. A lifeline for France. Montiel had been in the pitch only for twelve minutes when this happened. He was distressed and upset. Lionel Scaloni asked him twice if he fell like being one of the five penalty shooters: Lionel Messi, Paulo Dybala, Leandro Paredes, Gonzalo Montiel, Lautaro Martínez. -Yes, he answered. El Dibu saved the second French shoot; the third was lost. Argentina 4 – France 2.There was no need for the fifth shoot. Call it Destiny. Call it Fate. Beautiful pictures of Gonzalo Montiel, smiling, raising the Cup. Thank you.
Fútbol is the only thing that makes us happy in a destroyed country. That's why we're passionate. It gives us hope. You can born in any poor place but if you're talented you can even win a world cup. Unfortunately it's not that easy. Politicians screw us all the time. I'm 31 years old and I'm studying to be able to leave this country. No matter which politician you support, we always get screwed over. I really don't know the answer to our problems, but I don't want to waste my life fighting here. It's a shame, I'm going to miss going to my team's stadium every Sunday…
Very accurate. But IMO there is something else that explains how extreme is the passion for football. The average argentinian is VERY sociable, in true contact with the family, with friends. And he is passionate, no matter in what he is interested in. A very good example is music. Argentinians are well known for being "the best crowd ever". Many international bands frefer the argentinian crowd because they express their passion in the same way they do in football. But… its very dificult (even for us) to explain argentinians passion in its whole size, so we have a saying here that says "Argentina, no lo entenderias" (Argentina, you wouldnt understand it.)
Excelente informe. Desde Argentina, como argentino, gracias.
supporting Argentina from nepal 🇳🇵
There’s inflation yet they’re still celebrating.💀
It wasn’t too long ago they were burning messi’s jersey
¿Cómo no apasionarse?
Germans and Argentina such a coincidence…..
