I love that he knows what’s up, and she’s getting to experience this story for the first time. Fun to watch!
The cinematography is gorgeous and includes a lot of nods to the game, which I really liked.
it's almost good adaptation, but i'm a bit disappointed, because when joel and tess want to take the battery, robert already dead, the gun battle scene between Robert's gang and Joel & Tess shouldn't be removed, I think it's important to show how much Joel capable doing thing and needs to protect Ellie, and that's the reason Marlene trusts Joel too.
Because the opponents in the game are not only infected humans, ordinary humans are also opponents. Just like the military said, infection and insurrection.
I think it's an important action scene that needs to be put in the first episode. If that isn't removed, and the scene can be matched to the game or better, I'm sure the first episode will be more hype. I think the first episode was good but too flat after the Sarah Death scene was well adapted.
I was watching another channel where the reactors were a couple like you guys and when Joel’s daughter died I don’t know what was tougher, watching the daughter dying and Joel being affected by it or the woman reactor because it destroyed her….
I never played the game either, but as a viewer, I thought it was really well done. Brilliant world building and character development.
I'm glad gamers are enjoying it; it means the show is being true to the source material even when they flesh things out and expand on it.
I hate to break it to y'all, but most of the exteriors weren't filmed in Austin (or Boston, for that matter) but Edmonton, Alberta, Canada 😂🇨🇦

On the HBO Max YouTube channel Troy Baker hosts a podcast that airs after each episode where he has the showrunners Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin. Definitely worth a listen to. In that first episode they explain that their initial idea was to end the first episode at the point where Joel throws the kid in the fire, but the studio pushed back that ending the first episode on two kids dying would be to bleak and possibly lose a lot of people.
Luckily Neil and Craig agreed that their initial idea was bad and extended the first episode. So what was initially thought to be the first two episodes was turned into one episode and part of the reason we have 9 episodes instead of 10.
Prince Oberyn got his chance to be the one acting as The Mountain on this HBO show

I was simping over downtown Austin too! Used to live there but moved out to the west coast in 2019. I miss it but definitely agree people needed to stop moving there 😂😂😂😂

In the game, the outbreak started because of infected crops in South America. During the first half of this episode, the writers are protecting Joel, Sarah, and Tommy from eating foods produced from crops (Pancakes, Biscuits, Cookies, and Cake) They ate egg for breakfast, Joel rejected the biscuits shared by the Andlers, Sarah didn't eat the cookies because of raisins and Joel forgot his birthday cake 🤣
But I guess the outbreak started at Jakarta, as mentioned in the series. Indonesia is one of the world's largest producers and exporters of agricultural products, supplying important commodities such as palm oil, natural rubber, cocoa, coffee, rice, and spices to the rest of the world.
FYI the "Austin" scenes were shot in southern Alberta in Canada
Love the fake out with the car ALMOST hitting them. In the game that's how they crash. Airplane crashing is much better. Lol

The 2nd game is fantastic in my opinion and I highly recommend you go back and finish it with fresh eyes. Also let's go Niners. Beat those Cowboys this weekend.

I’m from Austin Texas born and raised and now live in Calgary Alberta. Where a lot of this show was filmed. So it’s awesome watching the show and your reaction and love seeing you guys gush over Austin. Miss miss miss.
There is a theory bumping around that the fungus was spread by flour. The main characters didn't eat any flour which is why they were not sick. They didn't eat the pancakes, nor the biscuits, no cookies, and Joel forgot the cake.
The show started like the game with the curtains in Sarah's room and with the watch in the box. Just watch camparisons, it's amazing

Someone needs to make a show or movie where the entire move or entire first season is showing the world and society crumbling apart from a Zombie apocalypse. Fear the walking dead sort of did with its first season but it was kind of meh.
